Questions and answers
What is the purpose of the friendly help group?
This is an arrangement for persons to receive brief, confidential, and anonymous email support on life and relationship issues from professional educators and coaches who are Jehovah's Witnesses.
Why provide this service?
Life and relationship issues are often challenging and stressful. In most cases your best support will come from persons who live in your area. However there may be situations where this is not possible temporarily. Short-term email support can provide some benefits, while directing you to local resources for continuing help.
Will information remain private and confidential?
How are the services provided by the educators and coaches?
Replies sent to you via anonymous electronic mail aim for empathy and understanding. If requested, information will be provided that may assist you in resolving the issues you are facing.
Are the services offered by professional educators and coaches the same as psychotherapy, marriage counseling, or family counseling?
No (although some of the providers may also be professional counselors). Most psychotherapy and counseling approaches are based on the medical model of diagnosis and treatment. Education and coaching are based on the "wellness" model, which focuses on education and training in practical approaches that empower the individual to work through issues and to grow as a person.
Is this service available to persons who are not Jehovah's Witnesses?
This is an anonymous support service and we do not request background or identifying information. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate. We reserve the right not to respond at our discretion.
